Hi,
Thanks for the posts...
So I go for my Ethics consult tomorrow. I am pretty nervous... Not sure what they want to meet with me for 2 hours... But who knows, maybe that is how long it will take to go through a lot of issues.
I am not against the ethics consult per say. I understand they are thinking of everyone's best interest: me and my future offspring. But to deny me that opportunity will infuriate me. That's why I am against this consult -- I don't 100% believe that a group of people should deny someone based on a variable disease process.
I have a mild CF. Yes, I do go into the hospital 1-2x/year. I have support here. I have a few good friends who will take my baby if I am sick in the hospital. My coworker is having a baby next month and she understands my health issues (she has a mild immune disorder). She said she would watch my baby for me if I am in the hospital -- my parents would come up if I had a prolonged hospital course though so I know this would be a temporary thing til they could grab the baby.
I am planning on a live-out nanny to help me, not only with work hours and school hours, but also if I am under the weather and need someone else to help me out with baby stuff.
I have money saved, own my condo down in chicago, live in a small place (plan to move when baby becomes mobile), and have a good idea of the sacrifices I am going to face by doing it on my own.
I don't plan on being a single mom forever... I am not against a marriage... but my health comes first... I can't wait health-wise to be a mom. I may not find someone for 5 years -- by that time, my fev1 may be in the 50's and I will not do a pregnancy at that fev1. Just my opinion.
Ok, I am due at work tomorrow morning...
