I am at a loss for words...I can only echo those of others and find peace that he is with his Savior. Prayers of strength and comfort for his family...

Mockingbird...what a beautiful and sensitive soul. My heart goes out to his family that he wrote so lovingly about. I will miss reading his intelligent, uplifting, and gentle replies
as he reached out to help and comfort others in their own pain.

Just a few weeks ago, a member of this site wrote about wanting to give up. Jarod was one of the few who replied. If anyone looks at his website, they will see, not only what a talented artist he was, but also what an extraordinary writer Jarod was. But to comfort the poster, he chose another writer's words (Dean Barnett) to express how he dealt with his own illness and what truly mattered most in life. To think of these things when it is hard to keep going. I was so moved by Jarod's choice and repeated the quote to others:

"As I grew sicker, I had what for me was an extremely comforting insight. I came to view serious and progressive illness as an ever constricting circle with oneself at the center. The interior of the circle represents the contents of one's life. As the circle gets smaller, things that were inside get forced out. Some of these things are dearly missed; others that were once thought precious get forced to the exterior and turn out to go surprisingly unlamented.

At the innermost point of the circle are the things that really matter: family, faith, love. These things stay with you until the day you die. At the very end, because the circle has shrunk down to its center, they're all you have left. But as we approach that end, we finally realize that all along, they were what mattered most. As a consequence, life often remains beautiful and worthwhile right up until the end."

Inspired, I went to Jarod's website and saw his own writing was so intensely beautiful, creative, soaring... He wrote a story called "The King." It was about a King who lost his one true love and couldn't stop mourning her, but finally finds peace. Jarod wrote:

Out of the light that covers me
The warmth of life from head to toe
I thank you Lord, who set me free
Who gave me back my soul."

I hope his family can find comfort from his own words. I am so sorry that Jarod is gone, but his bright light touched all of us and will live on through his remarkable words and drawings.
