Just wanted to offer my support. I hope your daughter gets on the mend soon. Definately, the nurses should be medicating your daughter prior to CPT so she is comfortable as possible. I did want to mention that codeine suppresses cough(not what we want for our CF'ers). When maggie had surgery, the surgeon ordered Tylenol with codeine and our pediatrician switched her to a different pain med without codeine(can't remember what). Also, Kacie drinking lots of fluids will keep her mucous less thick. Moving around as much as she can tolerate will help as well. Narcotics also can cause constipation, so making sure she gets fiber, like prune juice or a stool softener to prevent that as well.
