Any singers here?

I grew up in musical theater and was an actor/dancer in musicals up until September 2006. I was one of the healthiest patients the doctors had seen, and I am still very very healthy. I did very strenuous shows such as Cats and Joseph...Dreamcoat where I was required to do intense dancing and singing. If you are physically able, try running on the treatmill and singing, this is very hard, but will effect the airways in generally the same way and builds up stamina like CRAZY.
I know that if I hadn't danced and sung for those years growing up I would be in a completely different state of health.

Yes, singing does expand the lung capacity, and I can't remember exactly how it works, but it has something to do with the oxygen effecting the body and the certain muscles it uses, but most singers do gain weight, that's why you see so many fat opera singers. (I wish I could remember the exact reasons, one of my past music teachers told me the details, but I can't remember them).
