Anyone had Valley Fever?

Some of you knew that my 9 year old son Vinnie has been in and out of the hospital for the last month. He was in IV therapy for 3 weeks and showed absolutely no improvement in his PFTs. As of last Friday they were down to 69%....so they took a Valley Fever test and a CT scan of his sinuses ..we live in Arizona. His sinuses are completely impacted (he's had surgery twice before) and his VF test came back positive. Has anyone had any experience with Valley Fever in CF patients? I'm a nervous wreck! He sleeps all day and hasn't been to school in 5 weeks.

Ugh, my sister, no-cf had it about 5 years ago. Before she was diagnosed with having it she was exhausted, lost a lot of weight -- slept quite a bit, too. Not sure what type of treatment options they used for her. Have they done a scan/xray of his lungs to see if they're affected? She had a small fluid filled nodule, which first appeared on an xray then on a PET scan.

At least they know what's causing some of his problems and can treat it accordingly...

Yes, we go to PCH. You too? He's on Bactrium and an antifungal right now. Just got off of 3 weeks of Tobra and Cefapime.
