Althought friends & family are hit/miss about sending something when I am sick.....hubby is great about making sure we eat, but its not always home made.

If I won the lottery one of the first things I would do is hire someone to cook for me. I do enjoy it when its for a crowd rather then just the 3 of us, but even so my health makes it difficult at times.

I am curious if anyone has hired a personal cook/chef etc & if so does anyone think its tax deductable? OK Maybe I am into wishful thinking there~!!!

I know where we live there are several services where someone will either prepare a dinner for 4 for the week and bring the containers to your home to store in the freezer or fridge for reheating. As well as someone who will come to your home and do the same. From what I understand, the prepared meals aren't all that spendy...

I know we need to eat better, sometimes we're in just such a rush and don't plan any meals out. In the winter, I do tend to fire up the slow cooker/crockpot a bit more often.

We have a place here that is called "Pass Your Plate". It's a little different, in that you actually go there and spend a couple of hours. They help you prepare as many meals as you wish, and package them in microwave/oven safe containers. You take them home, and put them in the freezer, and just heat them up when you are ready for a meal.

The food is all fresh, so it's not like you could store the meals for a long period of time. I know a lady who goes once a week, and she loves it. She says it's like going into a professional kitchen where tons of ingredients are set out in a salad bar type arrangement. You just choose the meats and veggies or types of meals you want, and they go along with you to prepare them and package them. She puts in an hour or two on Sat. and she doesn't have to cook the rest of the week.
