My daugher take viokase tablet form.
I would be interested in the powder form if they make it.
I have a very difficult time getting her to take her enzymes.

No she doesn't, thats to bad I thought that maybe it would be easier to put on food, or in a drink.

Thanks for the information

We use Viokase tablets for tube feeding at night. We use 9 tablets (crushed with a Pill Pulverizer) mixed in 711 ml. formula one hour before feeding begins, this allows time for the crushed enzymes to dissolve.

Yes, my granddaughter has been on Viokase Powder for her night feeding through her g-tube...for a year now. We use Creon for her oral feedings. The Viokase works very well if we tube some it at the begining, middle and end of the feed. She has had no problems with it. It is pretty expensive, I think about $200 a bottle. Hope this is the info you were looking for.

Hi Val,

So glad to see you replying on this site. It's a great forum! (And I know you have so much experience, information and a kind heart to share!)

I saw your post about Viokase Power you wrote in 2004. Do you have any experience with it the powder since then? My son, 21 months, needs to take the powder with every meal. He can't take the tablets, nor the Creon "beads" any more. The powder tastes horrid, and I can't hide it in applesauce, etc. He is still 95% breast fed, due to undiagnosed Chronic Diarrhea. He needs to transition to Peptamen (elemental) formula and solid foods, but can't yet with his feeding aversions. The nasty tasting powder is only making it worse.
Any suggestions on how to hide this powder? Can it be flavored at a pharmacy?

Keep trying different things until you find something he likes, dont use dairy etc, see my other post. My older children both had Viokase powder and tablets because that's all there used to be back in the day <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

They did take the powder with water, but others used baby food gel, there's different flavours. You might also look at when you give the enzyme, do you give it at the beginning of the feed, middle or end? I would recommend beginning and middle.

Like to hear how you go with it. We mixed Creon into apple sauce (make sure it's sweet!) for our younger child. he had it from 6wks.
