Atul Gawande: A Framework for a Better Health-Care System: News Desk: Online Only: The New Yorker
In "Getting There From Here," an article for the January 26th issue of The New Yorker, Atul Gawande described how President Obama could build on our current health-care system to ensure that everyone could get coverage. This morning, Gawande testified before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health. Gawande's testimony draws on his observation that "our health system is failing - on cost, coverage, safety, and value - because the complexity of health care itself has exceeded our abilities as individual clinicians."
Anybody who starts out an analysis by asking me to believe that "our health care system is failing," automatically builds a very high bar as to the believability of his entire thesis.
