I hope this link to an article in the NYTimes works!

One of the authors is Atul Gawande...who studied the CF community back in 2004 writing about the different centers and what may cause them to have different results.

The CF article called <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2004/12/06/041206fa_fact">The Bell Curve</a> was originally published in the New Yorker magazine but now is also a chapter in his book: <u>Better</u>

I'm always interested in his perspective.

Interesting article, but, while I have no doubt as to the qualifications of Dr Gawandi--I have some reservations about how he came to his conclusions in this article I don't think he covered all the possible reasons or contributing factors that might hae skewed the outcome he postualated. Here are some opposing viewpoints...

Gawande's testimony draws on his observation that "our health system is failing - on cost, coverage, safety, and value - because the complexity of health care itself has exceeded our abilities as individual clinicians."
