Yeah, my doc was telling me yesterday that it has been on backorder since November ... and that recently the issues have been because it is manufactured in places like Mexico where workers haven't been working due to swine flu and etc.

That's why this happens in America!

yeah, my pharmacist explained to me that its the "raw ingredients" that go into making aztreonam and not the drug itself that is not available. if they had the product to manufacture the drug, it would be available. is it just me, or is this kinda scary? i'm all for buying and selling outside the U.S. if its good for commerce, but if something like this can deplete a life-saving antibiotic for MONTHS, where is the national security? i know we get many many ingredients for our drugs overseas and across our borders using non-native plants, etc., but still makes me a little nervous... but i digress.

i can't believe its been on backorder since november... wasn't swine flu just found in mexico a couple months ago? what was the hold-up prior to that?

I had this happen to me the week of May 11th, its really scary because Aztreonam is one of the few drugs that I'm still sensitive too. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">
