Aztreonam

Hello,

Haven't posted for a couple months. Things have been busy as I am getting pretty close to transplant. I think there are a couple people still ahead of me on the list.

I recently started inhaled Aztreonam through the Expanded Access Program. Aztreonam is the new inhaled drug nebulized through the eflow nebulizer. It should be FDA approved in the next few months.

I'll get to the point. I've been on IV's about 4 times in the last 6 months. Every time I had stopped IV's I would quickly get sick again.

I have been off IV's for two weeks and am still feeling pretty good. I started the inhaled Aztreonam 1 week ago. This drug has really been beneficial since I cannot tolerate tobi or colistin. I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday so I will find out if there are any changes in my pft's. At this point I just care about not getting sick again so if my pft's are status quo I'll be fine with that. Anything to keep me well until my transplant.

Anyway, I think this is a great drug and those who haven't taken it have somthing to look forward too.

You are absoultely right! This is a fabulous drug for all to look forward to. You will find that things will probably stabilize for you and you will look forward to your AL months<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> I am glad you have access to it while you wait for transplant.

stupid here didn't hop on board when she had the option to get it every two months to alternate between colistin and gentamicin. *whacks self in forhead* hopefully it will be approved soon. i'm such a retard. hopefully your pft's stayed the same or maybe improved a little bit. anything to stay off the dreaded iv's! good luck!
