Thank you everyone. I have been walking daily, yesterday I jogged a block. Actually, I was not even winded (amazing). I also started walking around town when I have to go somewhere instead of driving, I live in a small town.

Johnathan, the hospital seems like a hard place to work because of all the germs. Changing careers is hard, especially if you love what you do or it is something you really want to do. Lucky for me (and you), I have not started a career yet. I will be looking for a job that is part-time or not demanding. Right now I substitute teach at the local schools. I do wish you luck, let me know how your decision goes.

Jeana, How is the walking? Try walking faster. I think the important part is to get breathless, that way you really work your lungs. You have to push yourself a little. Well, that is what my doctors told me.

Good luck and thank you everyone. By the way, my sugars were absolutely normal (test made me sick though), doctors seemed impressed at how normal they were.

Amy Long, 32 WCF and mother of 3.

Amy, I know just how you feel. It is when my numbers started to drop in my mid-thirties that I decided to retire from medicine and focus on my health and raising my kids. It was a tough decision, but it was the right one. Keep running (and maybe lift some weights? so that you can get back that 15 lbs). It will work out.
All the best,
Julie

Hi Amy,

It sounds like you know exactly what you need to do, good for you !!!

A good number of ppl see it coming & are in denial or just aren't willing to make the changes that matter... Since the air quality is poor , what about running on a tread at the gym or at home ?

I pray that you will recover some of you lung function.

Stay positive !! & God Bless you <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0"> joni
