Maggie was coughing alot yesterday after finishing 2 weeks of her increases in Bactrim. I had to take her home from school; her cough sounded combo of wet and junky to dry. I gave her LOTS of treatments and VEST and called the doc waited all day for what to do with her. She woke up this morning and said "I feel even worse that yesterday, I need 4 puff puffs" My heart sank. She felt tight but her lung didn't sound bad. I had to go to work today so hubby stayed home and did her treatments; doc finally called in some zyvox. Course now Maggie seems better, than this am. Hubby will have to drive an hour and a half away to pick up the Z. But looking at my calender it looks like she had cough off and on for a month; so I guess it's time for the big guns. I guess I'm second guessing myself. Just a crappy week.

Maggie came home from school the other day; threw herself on the couch and said"I just want to be normal" I felt like crying. Almost every March; Maggie is on the hard core anti's..Last year at this time she was. Maybe coincidence? I think it's the cold after cold finally gets the bugs brewing. I just hate using them unless I have to.

I hope Maggie feels better soon.

Her story sounds similar to mine. I had a two week IV course of Bactrim at the end of January, and here I am now on a course of IV Zyvox.

It is time for summer!

The last two years right around March/April Emily got sick with particularly nasty infections. Last spring she needed 2 courses of Prednisone and started an inhaled steroid in addition to a couple different abx for much longer than what is typical for her. The year before she wasn't dx'ed with cf yet, but was sicker than she'd ever been, eventually progressing to pneumonia. I think it's what you said: the cumulative effect of catching multiple bugs all winter with insufficient recovery time inbetween before being exposed to a whole new set of bugs.

I hope Maggie responds quickly to the Zyvox and is feeling better soon.
