I am on the end of the course of my Bactrim which technically started over two weeks ago, but because of some other sickness I stopped for a few days (with dr approval). I am WIPED OUT. I go to sleep around 10 or 11 every night and typically have been waking up around 8. Now back when I was teaching I would be in bed at the same time and up at 5:30 and I didnt feel this tired.

Do you all notice this with oral Bactrim? I just wanted to vent I guess, but man I cannot wait till Thursday when I take the last dose!!

Wow - you sound like you are experiencing the same thing my daughter is right now. She is also on bactrim and just looks tired. I keep grabbing ehr for hugs to feel if she is crackling or has a fever but she just looks tired. No other issues.
Not fun.

Bactrim does this to Emily, too. It gets better, the further along she is on the course, but at first, she is tired, CRABBY, and complains of headaches. Usually by about 5 days in she's back to normal.

Hope you can catch up on your sleep and feel better soon!

I'm on Bactrim post transplant and no exhaustion. Pre-TX, I took Bactrim and was always exhausted.

I think, for me, CF lungs made me exhausted.

I absolutely swear by bactrim. I am allergic to every other oral antibiotic that is near as effective as bactrim. The only negative thing about it is it raises your potassium levels, and it is of the utmost importance that potassium levels are normal. I never, ever felt tired when taking bactrim, but I guess different strokes for different folks; every person's body chemistry is different, and reacts differently to different drugs.

EDIT: Come to think of it, high or low potassium levels are linked to exhaustion and fatigue, and bactrim causes high levels.
