In Australia when you are 16 you can go and get it done without parental permission. Before 16 you have to have a parent with you.

Maybe a little harsh lol, But we all have our own house rules<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

It was kj's dad that gave her the money for it.

I know when I got my piercings you had to be 18 to get it done without parental consent. I got my bellybutton done about 2 days after my 18th birthday - though I probably could have gotten it done before that. A friend of ours did it. She was an OR Tech (Operating Room Technician) and had done piercing in the past. I took the pansy way out lol .... she numbed me with lidocaine and then did the piercing.

Same thing went for tongue piercing too. I had that done about 6-7 months after my bellybutton - but you had to be 18 otherwise have parental consent. That was a HUGE waste of money though. I ended up taking it out after about 4 months lol. I had been told that the metal in the rings can eat away the enamal on your teeth - I am obsessed with my teeth so I took it out I couldn't stand the thought of messing my teeth up lol.

Not to harsh at all Craig. I think that kids are growing up way to fast anymore. I look at things now that they sell or gear towards young teens and preteens and even younger and I want to die. Some things are so "adult" in nature. It makes me wonder what happened to playing tag in the front yard lol and chase or hide and seek or whatever.

Take Care,
Lindsey

Craig,

I don't think you were harsh at all. We as parents have to decide what is right and wrong for our children.

To me, getting a belly ring is just like getting your ears pierced, but we all have a right to feel how we feel. My hubby is not fond of the idea, but the girls are wearing him down....lol
