Birds

Thanks. I will definitely ask on Wednesday. I have been an LVT for 13 years. I used to work in an exotic practice (many years ago). The birds that had aspirgillosis always had symptoms (diarhhea, nasal discharge, flakes, etc). Hystoplasmosis is more often seen in bats and starlings, not house birds, so I am doubtful that would be a problem.

I asked my doctor and she said that she would not recommend running out and getting birds, however if you have them and your lung functions are stable, they are ok. The birds should be kept in a room that the CF child spends the least amount of time in. The cage must be kept clean and hand washing before and after interacting with the birds.

Thanks for your input. That makes sense. My son has absolutely NO contact with the birds and has never even been in the room (simply because it is a basement).
