BLOOD SUGAR

We went to the local waterpark today. Spent all day there...about 6 hours.

I took food with us.......lots of water, cokes, meat and cheese sandwiches on whole wheat bread, apples, bananas, chips, and we ordered some funnel cakes while we were there.

Courtney stayed hydrated (drank about 3 16 oz bottles of water and a couple sodas) while we were there and ate well.

When we left the park she needed to pee. By the time we got across town (about 30 minutes) she needed to pee again REALLY bad. We ate and headed to take my neice home (about a 10 minute drive)....she had to pee again. Drove home (about 15 minutes) and she had to pee really bad again. Within 20 minutes of being home she peed 2 more times. She is feeling great and is not having any current problems other than her normal weight issues.

My question is.....isn't this a sign of high blood sugar? Her last blood glucose test came out fine. I think that was about a year ago. I can't imagine what else would make her need to pee so much???

Any ideas??

I know a UTI or Kidney Stones can make you feel like you have to pee a lot. Since she was at a water park, something could have been in the water to cause a UTI. I know when I have kidney stones, I feel like my bladder is about to bust, but when I go it isnt much. It doesnt hurt to pee, just the pressure of having to go. I know high sugar can cause that too, but I believe it also makes you really thirsty. Not sure if they happen at the same time or not. I do not have CFRD so I dont know much about what actually happens, but I do try to pay attention to possible signs for myself.

Maybe she drank more than normally, so it had to come out again...? If she does feel no pain and everything is back to normal tomorrow it should be ok.

I would see if your doctor can either order a meter for random home checks or do a glucose tolerance test. She should have a glucose tolerance test every year anyway. Frequent urination is the first sign many times but I hope it was just a fluke.
