I picked up the Boston Herald on sunday and on the cover was the story of a newly married couple struggling with CF.

this is too bad... i wish we could have gotten more of the story. why wasn't he already listed for tx or was he? did he have a history of hemoptosis? also, why would that doctor say that the transplant "would rid his body of the disease"?

I'm from Boston, too, and though I'm not listed at Mass General I know that they don't do nearly as many transplants as many other hospitals. I wonder if they dual listed or what the deal is? I'm sure he is a patient at the CF center at MGH. They have incredible docs so I know he has great care. Just not sure why they waited so long? It's so sad that not only does he have to suffer from CF, but that he has a rare blood type, too. Everyday I remember that as bad as I have it, someone always has it worse. I just don't know why we all have to suffer so much.

Channel 4 news did a story about this couple this morning. They played a video of the wedding. She was a beautiful bride and so in love.

They also said he is now on the top of the list for the country. How does that happen?

I saw the article too! Mike has been on the list in Boston for well over a year which is why he got listed in Cleveland too. I went to this man's website and it looks like he has been on the list for a long time too, and was trying to find a living lobe match because he had been waiting forever. now he is too sick for a living donor, I believe. As far as the article, the reporters aren's doctors and get things a little wrong sometimes. We had a reporter write an article about Mike not long ago and she got a bunch of things wrong. I don't think it matters though if in general it is raising awareness. He can't be on the top of the list in the country. You can only be on the top of the list in your region.
