Bowel cancer and CF

Sorry my last message didn't send I don't think.
I would like to thank-you both for such kind and supportive words. Really makes a difference to know that there are people out there who care so much.
Yesterday I spent most of the day crying and feeling pretty much devastated at the thought of telling my daughter the latest prognosis.
Today I shared the news. She is so brave and wonderful. It breaks my heart to think of the sad look in her eyes. However the way that she handled the news made it far easier for me than I had imagined. I realise it is probably the case that she is hiding some of her feelings, or possibly unsure of how to express the emotions she could be having. It's also a lot to take in, and might not seem 'real' at the moment. I'm still having those moments. We are very close and can talk about whatever really, so she knows I'm always here. She is close to other family members too. Counselling has been offered by the hospital, but she said no way.
Love to all here and thanks again. Karen

Thanks JennifersHope and Lilywing. My last 2 messages haven't posted, so hope this one does. Your words of comfort and support are so much appreciated at this time. My daughter is now fully aware of the situation. She's being so strong. She's back in school and has started her GCSE courses. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to chemo. I'm worried I won't get through it due to the risks of further infection. I'm taking high doses of curcumin, milk thistle and lots of dried apricot kernals. I'm thinking of trying Gerson Therapy. It's a bit like the diet mentioned above in one of the posts, with lots of fresh juices (13 a day). Wouldn't work with the chemo though, as it's an intensive detox. It appeals more than chemo but no scientific proof that it could extend my life. Could be a lot of hard work and not produce any results. Also not sure how it would work with CF and needing lots of calories. I need to probably read more about it and talk to a practitioner before making a choice.

Hey Jennifer. I saw your post above. Could you tell me the name of the doctor and CF care center doing the research on the correlation between CF and colon cancer? Since my diagnosis, I'm becoming aware of more people with this issue. I think no one has noticed a correlation until now because we are finally living long enough to develop the cancer...ah the joys of CF

I'd like to find out where things are on this issue in terms of research and the CFF's position regarding early screening etc. It seems to me that early screenings would be a good idea and I'm wanting to get the ball rolling as an advocate for that.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Peace,

Steph

P.S. I also sent you a PM but figured I'd post here too in case you don't get notified of PMs.
