I am a 28 yr old PWCF.. and was just curious as to whether it's possible to go through with breast enlargement ? What are the risks ? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.. Julz x

Hey Julz,
I had breast enlargement when I was around 18 or 19. It was SO worth it for me. I talked to my dr's ahead of time (to see if Xrays could still see my lungs, etc.) and everything was fine. I was sore for about 5 days but have never had a problem since.
It helped my self esteem so much. I was always so self conscious before but now I'm more confident. It doesn't change your life but it did help me feel more comfortable in my own skin. Now I can wear sweaters and still look like a girl.
If you have questions just send me a private message.

I did it when I was about 22ish I think. My plastic surgeon did want to talk to my CF doc over the phone and confer on a few things..see if he needed to take extra precautions..make sure my CF doc was aware I was also having him pull my port.

I have always been so happy I did it. I think get plastic surgery sort of confused with self esteem issues too much. Myself...I thought I was great before the boobs and I am pretty sure I am great with the boobs too. I really felt like this was just something I wanted to do for me. My body sucks in sooo many ways and there's nothing I can do about those things (I mean internal suckage obviously). And after all the meds, hospitals and surgeries for that crap...well this little home improvement was just for me.

I don't really know how much information you were looking for or what precisley you want to know...feel free to PM me or if you feel like keeping it in the thread that's fine too.

Debbie,
I agree so much with how your (or my) body sucks in so many ways and you did something to make yourself happy. Great explination!
I too feel the same way! Breast enhancement was something I could do for me to make me feel better about my body .....and it worked. I was great before surgery and I'm even better now. I feel good when I fill out my clothes and don't feel like I need to pad my bras etc. It makes me feel so good to have at least one part of my body that I REALLY like. And my husband likes them too. hehehehe

I dont mean to steal your post but I really want a breast enlargement just for the same exact reasons! I feel that i have to have so much weirdness with my body (barrell chest... clubbed fingers...etc.) that i would just love to have something that i could be proud of and would help me out with my body image that i have always had problems with! I think that the insurance should pay for the surgery!!! If they did i would be there in a heart beat getting it done! That along with IVF... i think that insurance should have to pay for that too jsut cuz its a medical problem that i have... ughhh.... I would love to have nice size chest so i could fill out my shirts!!!! ok im done rambling!

Cariann,
If you want to have your boobs done AND have a baby, make sure you do the baby thing first. A friend of mine (non CF) had her boobs done and she was actually pregnant at the time (the test didn't show b/c it was so early). And then she had her baby and had to have her boobs done again. I don't think all situations are like this but be careful. If you are going to invest the $ make sure it will last.
They do tell you though that you can breast feed, etc. with implants so you can have babies afterward but for best results you might want to do your baby stuff first.
If you have questions about any breast stuff just send me a PM.
