Thanks guys! I'm going to print off that article for my doctor. He's all about research.

Oh, and sorry Caroline--your boy and girl look healthy. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Jeana,
I would not waste your money on breastmilk analysis. It's obvious that your little boy is thriving on breastmilk :) As long as you are continuing to do well from a health standpoint, I see no reason to get concerned if BM is appropriate for your son.

We sometimes spin BM to see what the caloric intake is. This is for our cardiac ICU babies who need high calories with limited free water, much more calories than normal babies. So if BM has 27-30 kcal/oz (or higher we have seen in some moms!!!), we will feed the baby that. Even if BM has less than ideal, we will fortify it, in order to allow the great benefits of BM to get to the baby. We also do mix of elemental formulas (broken down for easy absorption as these babies sometimes can't digest well) with BM if the BM quantity is not enough. Usually the babies are there for long periods of time and if the mom is pumping, we get tons of frozen breastmilk to send the baby home with.

So continue on and we LOVE the pics... Looks like both boys are doing well :)
