Just FYI your supply demand right now should be working itself out. It is ideal (from what my LC's have told me to hold off until around weeks 4 or when you want to introduce the bottle) to start pumping. Technically right now your boobs are hard because you are producing alot, by taking some out the body thinks baby ate that so it will continue to produce that 'extra' thinking it is needed. I hope i explained that ok. I was just told best to wait until BF and supply firmly established then add pumping session after first morning pump when you have the most.

</end quote></div>

Ditto.

Without knowing anything-about 1.5 week after I had her, my boobs were sooo hard and painful so I got up and pumped it all out for relief-well it was my milk coming in, replacing the early colostrum. You gotta just ride it out for a few weeks. The pain will go away. Put some cool packs on those ladies and feed often for relief. But pumping this early could mess up your supply bc your milk is still just coming in.
Ah-all these lovely things our hubbies don't have to worry about!

Well, I breastfed for 18 months. I did pump and use a bottle right away. I used the ortho nipple to help with confusion. I did not have any issues with that. It helped her father be involved and I could rest. Although, when she was 3months I had to be hospitalized because I had GI problems and my mother wanted me to try formula incase I had to be away for a long time. Well, I did not know how to make the bottle and I put too much formula and not enough water. She hated it and would not take a bottle again. I had the GI procedure and was gone 5 hours, my poor mom. She had to give her breat milk out of a cup (at 3 months).

well i gave morgan her first bottle today. today we took a trip that is normally two hours, but took almost four hours due to some explosion on I-10 through louisiana. anyway i tried to hold her off as long as possible but she woke up. she is five weeks and two days.

well i was prepared and had a bottle ready and bags of my milk. i'm sure it wasn't as warm as she would have preferred, but she took it. i guess when you're hungry you will eat anything <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

the only downside to it was that it was messy. the milk was coming out of the corners of her mouth, thats the most i've ever had to wipe her mouth.

next week we have a five hour drive that we are taking to go to my cousins for thanksgiving. hopefully she will do well and the bottle will work then. she doesn't like the pacifier, i guess she has figures out that food won't come out of it.

get ready daddy, it's my turn to sleep a full night <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
