Breathing help?

I have a question, I'm waiting for lung transplant and have had a lot of infections, trouble lately feeling well. But now I have a new-ish symptom. I can't get steady breaths. This may sound normal. But I cannot relax my breathing. I take xanax every day so I know its not a panic attack though it almost feels like that. My oxygen sats are 95-97 on 4 L oxygen, so thats good. I'm wondering whether I can still be sat-ing and getting oxygen well, but have high carbon dioxide build-up in my lungs? My HR is around 115, pretty normal.

I'm seeing my CF dr tomrw, but I may ask for an ABG to see if my CO2 is too high? Anyone have experience with this?? It's been like this for days, but I couldn't hardly sleep this morning because of it. Thanks.

Do you have headaches? Memory loss? Those could be symptoms of high CO2 levels. If they are high you could maybe try put your O2 just a little lower, but try keep your O2levels around 92 or something. I know that when your CO2 is very high they don't want you to use too much O2 as that will make it go up.

But always ask your doctor before doing this.

i never really paid attention to it when i was listed for a transplant but i will say that my heart rate wasnt that high. it was maybe in the 80s-90s but i did workout. are you working out at all? maybe doing a little exercise might help. i know before i was listed that they really pushed the exercising b/c you bounce back from surgery quicker.
