We've been through it as well. The stress of it all was really the hardest part, that and watching her come out of the anesthesia wasn't all that fun either.

I hope you get answers, because we had the same issue as folione, where we couldn't figure out if we were missing something in the throat culture but the bronch didn't give any new info.

My daughter had to do a sedated hearing test and what they did was put the mask on her to make her fall asleep and then they did the IV once she was asleep. I really apreciated that idea, because even though she has only been admitted once to the hospital, she may have more in the future and I don't want her to be terrified. She woke up OK and the minute she opened her eyes they took out the IV so she wouldn't remember it. Just an idea if they would try that...

My 8yo has had about 7 bronchs he was about 6 months old for his first one - he was part of a study for 5 years in the bronch arm. We have never ever experienced any problems or after effects from the bronchs at all. My other son (9 months old) will be having a bronch in 6 weeks to check for infections having been through it with the older boy we are nto worried at all. However, i will say that for the first couple of bronchs we were pertified of something going wrong.

My daughter had a bronch done when she was first diagnosed at 15 months old. She had no problems at all either. With her, her doctor did the flexible bronch, which means she wasn't all the way out. She was somewhat sedated and they sprayed to numb as they went down. My husband went in with them, he said they nurses had to hold her down pretty good and she cried and screamed a lot. Her doctor likes this type b/c he can go down a lot farther. Good luck with your daughters bronch! Sometimes there's just gonna be hard things we have to do that none of us want to do.
