My son Aidan aged 3 also was sick and had a bronch. I was disheartened to see that he also had alot of thick mucus in the back of his throat and in his lungs. He had a horrible sinus infection at the time and I think it was dripping down. He only cultured Staph as well. If he were to get one now, I think it would be better. We do nebs and the vest for one hour daily. I hope he feels better soon!

This is very common especially in younger CFers. At the younger ages they havent gotten the matured ability to get all that junk up.

When we arent sick....CF causes the mucous to stick to lungs (or anything for that matter LOL) like glue so getting it loosened is difficult normally.

Now when you have an exacerbation its much worse. Even if you get it loose....getting it up isnt the easiest task. Its a real workout doing a treatment properly.

Bronchs have their purpose no doubt IMHO especially when the patient is unable to expell the crap themselves.

Aria,

I agree w/ Melissa. It isn't easy for little ones to get the junk up and out.. I guess it's good that the dr.s have ways to help out in those situations..

I hope your little guy is feeling better .. God Bless ~
