Wow i read this thread in the nick of time! I'M FROM ONTARIO, CANADA! lol. I am from southern ontario, and havent been to Timmins. However, from my understand, up there the air qualitiy is good b/c it is away from all the smog we've got down here in the south part of the province. Um.....it's very woods-y (cottage country, kind of) lots of wildlife (watch out for Moose). The temp for the coming week is relatively mild (between 65-80 F). They don't get humidity up there the way we do, so that will be good for you.

Hope that helped!

THANKS SOO MUCH! That's sooo crazy that you were on when I posted. I figured it would be posted for almost a week before someone from that area replied! Woohooo!

Thanks for the info. When you say woodsy....do you mean like not highly industrialized with stores, shopping, etc? OR, just the terrain is nice and woodsy. I"ve been to many places with my work but I always love a place where I can shop on my down time! (Priorities...hahahah)

I've lived in a bunch of different areas in Ontario. One thing to mention - bring bug spray!! The mosquitos are excessively bad up there (must be all the trees). I imagine it doesn't get as smoggy as some of the bigger cities, but this week especially, temperatures have been in the 30's (Celsius) so smog warnings have been in effect for alot of areas. Enjoy the wilderness!!

Hi there, I'm from Ontario. So you're going to Timmins for work? Wow that makes me curious. Timmins is pretty far north. Now don't start getting those crazy ideas about igloos or anything. The farthest north I've been is Sault Ste.Marie and Kirkland lake. The industry up north used to be mining, these resources have been pretty much tapped out. Some nickle mines are still being used, but nothing to what it used to be like. The economy has really taken a beating. Housing is so cheap, if you wanted to retire there or summer there. Well paying jobs are very scarce. Shopping? What shopping? You have to go elesewhere. Bus trips into bigger cities are very popular. Groceries are very expensive, everything has to be shipped in, and with the high cost of gasoline you know what that means. Now on to the breathing. Probably better than the big cities, but don't forget the pulp mills. Have you ever driven through those towns? Humidity is what it is, and summer in Ontario is very humid. As for the mosquitos, don't worry the black flies carry them away. LOL. I'm not trying to scare you off. Beautiful country.
