maybe you could try wooden blocks under one end of your bed. that way you are elevated but still you can lay straight (don't know how to say it otherwise).

i used to have them on my feet end so mucous would not go down too much. ofcourse that could be a sideefect when you would do it the other way but it is not worse then laying with pillows i guess. i used them when my legs were reacting to too much prednisolon too. and occasionally on the other side when was very short of breath.
