There are certain procedures that are performed on the 'National Health Service' here in the UK, and depending on which Health authority you live in, will depend on wether this is free to you. For example, where we stay they will only allow IVF treatment for women who dont have children, whereas, if you stayed in another area this is possible if they have one child.

Tax dollars spent!!!

Oh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up!

Craig, I wish it worked that way here <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">, but it doesn't.

I think the NHS will only fund 1 course of IVF and the waiting list for this will no doubt be astronomical. Maybe it was a bad example to illustrate the workings of the NHS, I was trying to get across that there is a post-code (zip-code) lottery on treatments. I had knee surgery 6 years ago and in our health authority it took them 2 weeks, now a work colleague had the same surgery, he lives 20 miles further away and in a different health authority, well it took him over a year to get his done. And to confuse matters more, not all big hospitals will do the procedure.
Amy will tell you this is why the system in the UK sucks LOL, and she s right.

I have heard both sides about the health system at NHS, some that think it's the best and others who hate it..... Sometimes I feel that way about our healthcare here too though. I mean, nothing will ever be perfect of course but for example, my healthcare in San Diego at the military treatment facility FAR FAR FAR exceeds the care I have recieved thusfar being back in the "military healthy system" here in Washington. Don't know WHY it's different since it's the same program....
