Cayston!

i Cayston!

I have been on for several plus months now and at first I thought it was MAGIC, I felt so great the first two rounds. But now just feel just good and/or normal. I did however just go through an extreme drop of my PFT lowest in like forever and so the Cayston did NOT ward off any major sickness. But I like it better than Tobi which I was on FOREVER so I like the change up. Did not raise PFT's or eliminate Pseudo. Just seems to keep me feeling good but nothing extreme.

I've been on it for 8 months many of which I had to start IVs at the end or w/i days of finishing. Anyone also culture MRSA? Not sure Cayston can be taken without also taking something for MRSA.

Lauren,
I am on Cayston for PA and have MRSA. I am not currently taking anything for the MRSA. I was taking Septra DS, but then started to get small variant colonies, so my doctor took me off.

I just got Cayston and am encouraged by some of your positive experiences with it. I absolutely could not STAND the Tobi because it plugged my ears and made me have a "foggy" head. Hopefully this will be better, after all I can deal with pulmozyme, azithromycin, exc. just fine.

I have also had MRSA since I was like 16 and there is currently not much treatment for it. It is either Zyvox (which I am allergic to) or IV Vanco. It sucks because that is basically all I ever culture besides the rare Pseudomonas. My doctors seem to think my MRSA is crowding out the other bacteria on the culture allowing the other stuff to slip by undetected. I guess I'll find out if their right pretty soon.

Thanks for all the input! I haven't really noticed anything other than an increased cough and shortness of breath. I also just got really sick so I went back on Tobi which is like my miracle drug so I might try another round after I finish this round of Tobi.

Hi, Alyssaaaaxo.

I've been using CAYSTON for a couple months.
TOBI one month, CAYSTON the next, and round and round and round...........

It's so funny when I went to my appointment, my doctor asks:
"So do you like CAYSTON?"
I cracked up.
"Yes, I LOVE it. So much fun and tasty too!"

But seriously, it's fine. You inhale it 3 times a day - it takes 5-10 minutes.
Sometimes I am tight or wheezing after it & have to take extra hits off my inhaler.
It's just one more thing, you know?
As for benefits? I'm not sure. I haven't really noticed anything different in my health since using it but my health hasn't declined. So maybe it is helping.

My 26 year old son did the clinical study for Cayston and started on it about a month after it became available . Shortly after beginning the study at home he had improved and told his doctors he would not want to go back to Tobi (which he hasn't ) See the '' New Drugs '' thread
