cellulitus

well my ankle has been hurting for three days and it was starting to swell. i had to leave my classroom yesterday to go to the emergency room because i couldn't walk. the hospital diagnosed me with cellulitus. i have a high tolerance for pain, as i'm sure us with cf do. all the pokes and pricks we've had. the only other time i remember crying from pain is when i was in labor with my daughter. they gave me a shot of demerol at the hospital and a shot of antibiotics. they also sent me home with pain pills and two weeks of bactrim. they said cellulitus is a skin infection that would be caused by a bite, cut, scrape. the pain has eased a little, but it is still swollen and red. i go monday morning for a follow up appointment.

so just wondering if anyone on here has experienced this.

I was stung by a wasp last year and ended up with cellulitus *sp?* It got really hot, red, and very swollen. they gave me levequin (first time I was on that stuff) and told me to use ice compresses and benadryl. I think the benadryl was because I apparently am now allergic to wasps. I hope you feel better soon, and you should! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">. I know it isn't fun!

Yes I have had this 2 times in my ankle. It is terrible, and hurts so bad even having a high pain tolerance. The hospital told me to elevate my feet and try and stay off of them as much as possible. Its so hard to do it but it goes away alot faster if you can. cellulitus is an infection under the skin, i think twisting my ankle is what caused mine. Plus i was a hair stylist and was on my feet 8 hrs a day. Good Luck and get lots of rest!

When I was in 2nd grade, my ankle had swollen but it didnt hurt until my mom started poking at it. I dont know what they said it was but I remember I was in the hospital for a week maybe two I think with an I.V. in my hand. I went home with the I.V. in my hand for a week.

I dont remember what meds they gave me, not sure if my mom would remember but she might remember what they said about my ankle, Ill ask her about it and see what she remembers.

I received a bug bite a few months ago and it swelled tons (my whole entire forearm). It hurt to be touched. It took several days for the swelling to do down. I did a charcoal poultice on it and it helped with the swelling. CF doctor was a bit concerned that I didn't get it treated but was glad it resolved on its own.
