well went back to the ER today because the redness was swelling up my leg. with having a compromised immune system already i wanted something strong. well they gave me iv clendamycin and sent me home with oral clendamycin and levoquin. still taking bactrim too! hopefully it will knock it out! i'm going to elevate my leg. not nearly the pain i had friday, but still painful.

My oldest son had cellultis in his face. it was kind of funny how we found out.. He was a typicaly teenager not wanting to get out of bed and when my hubby went o yell at him Travis turned over and my hubby was like wth is wrong with you. his face on the right side was completely swollen and he couldnt even see out of his right eye. Needless to say we took him to the Er and he was admitted and put on IV abx. He spent 3-4 days in the hospital. They said it was most likely from one of his teeth.
My hubby had a similar experience with a bad tooth and cellulitis. Same thing iv abx then sent home with orals.

Emily got a cellulitis infection following her gtube placement that extended around the site, and spread from ribs to hip all the way around to mid-back on one side. It was red, swollen and extremely painful. They treated hers with IV Clindamycin, Gentamicin & Flagyl. When a culture of pus that came out from under the skin at the tube site showed a staph infection resistant to Clindamycin, they finished out the other two meds and added Bactrim. It was largely healed at the one-week point but she was still on Bactrim for another two weeks after getting home, and had just a little redness for about a week after getting home.
