Hi, I have Cf and I grew up with dogs. They help with the depression!!! However what I have realized the best kind of dog to get is a non shedding hypoallergenic dog. I have 2 tiny yorkshire terrors. They have to be the most loving dogs ever. But the best thing about them is they DO NOT SHED!! Their hair is like human hair. I was trying to upload a picture to send you but all my picture files are too big. If you decided to go for a yorkie, do your research and get one from a reputable breader NOT a pet store. Yorkies are expensive and the pet store will promise you it will be small, next thing you know you have a 15 pound dog. A true teacup yorkie should not be over 5 pounds. My boy is full grown at 4.2 pounds and my girl is full grown at 3!! And they are both very healthy. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi ) We have a 6 month old labrador puppy (he's almost 70 lbs.). He is a SHEDDER (and with my OCD tendencies, this didn't sit well with me but he's a big, loveable goofball that we love soooo much. I DID ask Ethan's CF doctor prior to bringing him home if it would be okay. She said "of course" and basically encouraged it. Ethan and Guinney are the best buddies too. Now, I have read recently (which obviously doesn't make it true) that labs can be the worst on allergies. I am allergic to almost everything, but haven't had a problem with him...Ethan has been fine as well. I'm sure it's just completely different with every person as well as with every breed. If you are worried about allergies, why not go visit someone with a dog or puppy/dog sit for someone? Good luck!

Unless you are getting a Poodle-mix from a shelter - it's a product of irresponsible breeding. Here's a Poo-Mix Rescue

You are not guaranteed anything with a mix - other than it is a mix. It could shed like mad, or not. They can have the characteristics of either parent - be it the poodle or the other, good or bad. They are bred for profit only - since there is not a breed standard or breed ability to better by breeding.

If you need to know that the dog will be non-shedding, look to purebreds from reputable breeders. These dogs will have parents with appropriate health certifications (hips/elbows, eyes, genetic diseases), AKC registrations on the pups, and if at all possible, champions in the line. There are a number of different breeds that would satisfy this need.
