Cf and religion

Lindsey, I am totally in synch with you on the gay marriage issue. I want to stress again, that this country was not founded on Christianity- if it were it would be a theocracy and no other religions would be allowed. In fact, if you read the constitution, no where in it does it mention the word "God". In fact, as I said, many of the founding fathers were most likely diests, opposed to run of the mill bible-thumpers. Diesm was commonly accepted as a rational thing during the American Revolution. Even though you could say America was founded on religion, that doesn't dictate what America should be now.

Opposed to your experiences, I don't think you're crazy, in fact I believe you are telling the truth. The power of positive thinking can do wonders. Let's take prayer. If you flip a coin 10 times it might land on heads 6 times, but if you increase the amount of times you flip it to let's say 100 times, it might land on heads 70 times. My point is, if one prays enough times, or does anything enough, one of them is bound to come to fruition. And when one prayer is answered, that person believes they have gone through a "personal experience."

I am not here to insult you or otherwise degrade you; actually I think it is a bad idea having a religion forum here, as discussions on religion can bring out the worst in many. I do agree that (excuse the language) we are just engaging in syntactic circle jerk here. Nobody will end up changing anyone's mind, the only purpose served here will be to stir the pot up and agitate certain people.

Have a nice day,

Religion is a difficult aspect for people like us with CF or any disease I think. I was raised Episcopalian and I'd have to say I still am, but I am very spiritual as well.

I take a lot of comfort in nature myself. I think that while we never know there is a God there is definitely a higher order to things. I think it is a miracle that we are just alive and the way we are. The fact that we can talk about this stuff is pretty much a miracle if you ask me

I think that CF sucks for sure, but without it I would probably not be the intensely caring, driven individual I am. I think it has given me a way to see around problems in a way that most healthy people cannot. In my opinion, the best thing anybody can do is do the best with what we are given. We happen to be given CF, and maybe we should use that to be ambassadors for those who have illnesses or are less fortunate. That's my view of religion: do what you can, and leave the world a better place than you found it

Hello Aimee! It’s been a while since you posted this, so I hope you get to see my response.

The short answer to Why God allows suffering is "We don’t know." We won't know till the day we get to walk with our Farther. Since there is really no short answer and John Macarthur all ready spoke on this topic. I'll leave a video link to his answer below. I hope this helps.

https://www.ligonier.org/learn/conf...llow-so-much-suffering-and-evil/?format=video

I would like to add that I would not have met the great people in my life without my suffering. I would also probably be in a bad place or dead sooner if it was not for my Cystic Fibrosis. A lot of my family struggles with drug addictions and I probably would have followed in their footsteps. One day I might find out why GOD let me have CF, but deep down I think I know. It's different reasons for each one of us. CF gave me opportunities I would not have had otherwise. Thank you for the post.

God Bless,
Michael Levy
