Does anyone else suffere from acne in their twenties like me? Is this caused from any CF meds or is it just bad genes?

Well, I guess the good news is that CF isn't the cause of your acne. I've got acne and it didn't start until I was 19 and just got worse and worse.

There's a lot of info out there about treatments. The Docs like antibiotics and topicals but in the long term they didn't help me. As a CF patient I couldn't imagine "wasting" antibiotics on acne. A lot of Docs don't believe that diet and acne are related but I've had a lot of success controlling my acne by changing my diet and adding certain supplements. Another key is drinking lots of water. Bad genes and hormones are the major contributors to who has acne and who doesn't.

Here's a good website for loads of acne info...

I started to get acne when I first went off to college and they later figured out it was due to stress, so that could be affecting you as far as CF. Also when I'm on a certain antibiotic, Zyvox, I'll break out at the end of the 2 week dose. So it definitely could be some med your on. Drink lots of water, that does seem to ease it up a little for me.

I got some acne when I went on Pulmozyme. When I went off my skin cleared up completely. I only went off pulmo because of my transplant

The amount of acne (for me it's the back area) can be directly linked to your bacteria load and what strains/infections you have at any time. Several times when i had real high bacteria counts or a new strain, my back would break out like mad. If you want to help your acne, try applying tea tree oil topically to the affected areas. That oil is highly recommended to treat anything skin related.

I never had acne in my school years, but I was also on the Pill. As soon as I stopped I got acne. Now in my early 30's I was getting cysic kind of acne, it was awful on my chin. Craters under my skin. Well, I now use cleanser, acne topical stuff and toner froma company called Mario Badescu. As a moisturizer I use Aloe Vera Gel, the clear kind in a clear and blue bottle from Walmart! It is AWESOME and my acne is gone!!! They have estiticians that will consult you over the phone to design a process for you. It is a little pricey, but sooooooo worth it. Sorry for the misspellings
