We see Dr. Black and we LOVE him and the whole clinic. We have always seen him at every appt. except one and Parker was sick and the Nurse Pract. offered to see him and let me know that Dr. Black was at a meeting. He is a great man and my son loves him. As far as the ratings of the clinic, I would just ignore them. At an education day a few years back, Dr. Black himself actually talked about them and explained that a lot of that depends on the patients you have, the severity of CF and parents actually bringing their kids in to the required visits, and the area that you live in. I have heard that some of the clinics will not even keep you as a patient if you do not follow their recommmendations. My son I believe is receiving the best care out there and I would just go and try your appt. again. We always see the whole staff at each appt. (Nurse Pract., Dietican, Respiratory Theriapist, and sometimes the Social Worker, they even have a Physcologist on hand if you need to talk to her.) They are great at returning our phone calls almost immediately and very helpful. The day we found out Parker has CF they had us come up immediately. I was a mess but they were very helpful in explaining every thing and putting us at ease. I still remember when Dr. Black came in and started talking to my son. Parker was scared of being poked and prodded and he went right to him and started playing with him. I think he truly does care as does all the other staff. We actually live right in between both of these clinics and after talking to a lot of people we decided that Children's Mercy was the best for us. We have only heard good things about it before we chose it. I hope you stay there and hope your next appt. is better. Please do sit down and voice your concerns with them. They love to talk about questions you have and will explain everything to you. Just be upfront with them and they will be upfront with you too <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Thanks soo much Jenn! I did talk to Dr. Black about what I saw, and experienced last visit, and he was very welcoming; and totally put me at ease. I'm very grateful that I decided to talk to them about this. I am convinced now, that Children's Mercy and Dr. Black are right for us!! Thanks again!!!
