The music collaboration effort that is going on had me thinking that we as a community should be able to come up with some "inventions" that make our treatments, schedules and other aspects of our daily lives easier. I was thinking that maybe there are some inventors or mechanical engineers in our community that could run with some ideas?

The first thing that came to mind, (Maybe it already exists?), is something that holds a handset so a neb can be done hands and teeth free. I think it is common for us to like to have both hands free when doing nebs and don't want to use a mask. I tend to use my teeth to help hold the handset up level. I am sure this is not good for my teeth and jaw etc. I have thought many times to try to use some kind of headband to hold the handset up level, but have not taken it any further. I think it is something that needs to be adjustable for different sized heads and handsets(including pari lc plus and eflow handsets).

Anyone have an thoughts on this or other ideas? Any inventors out there?

I have wished for this many times myself. I do the same thing, holding it up with my teeth. I don't know what you are supposed to do. I do take breaks. WTF, that is all I have to say. Great idea. If I was a mechanical engineer I would work on that.

Well, after chiming in as a drummer on the music project, I guess I'll come out here and admit I'm a mechanical engineer too. Though that doesn't mean I can whip an invention together easily. The only thing I can picture for now is a full head apparatus similar to the retainers of the old days like Joan Cusak wore in that 80's movie. It would have to hold the neb perfectly on the x, y and z directions so it lines up perfectly with your mouth even when turning your head. Honestly I'd rather stick with teeth holding and masks. Though the masks could certainly be improved.
The adult ones I've used seem kind of small and don't have much area to let the mist out so it gets very wet. I was thinking they could have holes with simple flap valves at the bottom for exhaust when you breathe out of you mouth or nose.

What other opportunities for improvement do you see?

As soon as I read this, my first thought was something that would be similar to holding a harmonica.

Hasn't anyone seen "MTV Live" or some concert where the musician has a harmonica on some bracket and can use it when necessary?

Worth checking out, eh?

Anybody thought of an e-cig? It has an atomizer in it. Only drawback is that it doesn't hold very much liquid - the most I've found is .6ml (yes, that's POINT six... sigh), and that, according to a sales rep, lasts 120-150 draws. But there's got to be a way to make that reservoir bigger, right? ...right? Although yes, at that atomizing rate, time probably increases for treatment rather than decreases it.

Yes, something similar. I think it would just have to set on top of the apparatus so it can be quickly lifted off and out of ones mouth in order to cough, etc; otherwise, it might have some kind of safety issue.
