CF metaphors

I remember so clearly the day I received my diagnosis. The pulmonologist called me (he is in Billings, 140 miles east)at work. When I went outside I recall feeling a significant change in the way I felt being in public - like my blue coat (yes, I sensed the colors) was taken away and I had a wear a red coat. And everyone knew. After years of living with a diagnosis of asthma and allergies I now had a true diagnosis. As I became accustomed to the red coat (and yes, I am a little public about having CF),it fits a whole lot better than that old coat and my old diagnosis of asthma and allergy.

Before my diagnosis and even now I view it as treading water - don't kick too hard and you will last longer. These days I'm finally beginning to believe that swimming laps makes more sense. When you swim you go somewhere and you get stronger. When it comes time that you are sick and need to tread water, a strong swimmer will have more resources to pull from.

here is my meta.....

We are at the end of the Race, Almost there, almost there

We work together as the CF team to put forth our energies to realize our dream

There is a Ray of hope in the Darkest night, there is a ray of hope and light

There's a light that shines for all the world to see and it shines with simple Ray of Hope.

I forgot most of the words. This is off the top of my head.

-----------------
I always looked at CF as a RACE. I wrote a poem and knew someone many moons ago that took my poem and made into a powerful CF song. The song is on a cassette and I have no idea to to copy this song onto the internet. Trust me on this, this song will make you smile and cry.

The piece written by Jamey is awesome! They have it posted in the hallway at our hospital. He was a fighter! I miss see him standing at the nurse's station when I go in. ( he hated being in his room!)
