What did you/are you doing for airway clearance during the last 3 months or so?
Vest? Manual? Flutter? Nothing?-be honest if you can!
I am doing my vest, I have the short chest vest now that my doc reccomended for pregnancy. I have also adjusted the settings a little lower, I just can't take frequencies above 15ish. The doc had told me at the beginning of preg that I'd probably not be able to use my vest past 6 mos, bc it would be too irritating, so according to her I'm doing very well tolerating it. The nurse was actually shocked that I was still doing it at my last appointment, being well into my last trimester.
Our original plan was for me to hire a physical therapy student to come and clap me every day if/when then vest was untolerable, but its been fine up till now so I haven't begun looking into that.
The thing is, just the past week or two (which coincidentally I have grown alot during), therapy is getting tougher. Coughing makes me gag, and I vomit alot-bc the pressure is building up against my stomach. I think the vest is irritating me "down there" too-the coughing makes my abdomen, (feels like my uterus, but I'm sure its just muscles) ache and ache. And I can't tell u what this is, but the past week during therapy, I feel this bump bump bump (like a reallyyyy strong pulse) way up in my vagina. Is it the baby moving, or my PC muscles moving/throbbing? I don't know. But its weird.
So basically therapy is getting harder and I'm wondering if its becoming too much for me, or should I try something else.
Any thoughts? And please share what you did.

I didnt have the vest when I was pregnant and honestly didnt do CPT reguarly. When was in the hospital they did CPT & I just found a comfortable position for the belly. I never had problems with CPT or the terrible cough that you guys speak of. I am starting to wonder if my memory is going or if I was in denial about a lot of things during my pregnancy LOL!

I had the vest but never used it during pregnancy, I had never really been a vest user though I had it. I did the pep or acapella, maybe once a day. It was not until after havin gher I got serious about my therapies, I just was an idiot about it looking back. I didnt get much up so I figured I didnt need to do it as often I guess--of course this was subconscious because rally I woudl just 'forget' or get too busy. It wasnt a habit like it is now to always do it. YOu are doing a great job.

I also got a pressure feeling in my vajayjay area durign my pregnancy about 1./2 way through then more at the end.

I didn't use my vest either (though mine was a 102) mainly because no one told me there was a short chest vest! My DH did my "beatings" every night before bed, as I was usually still asleep when he left for work. I seem to remember the pulse like throbbing, but mine was higher up, if I remember right. I guess I must have just chalked it up to the baby laying against a blood vessel or something- your dr. will probably know . At least by the third trimester, my abdominal muscles ached pretty much constantly . The only real relief I got was sitting down in a position that "held" my tummy, or standing with my hands clasped under my tummy, or finding a comfortable position to lay down in. Oddly, my back didn't hurt anywhere near what I expected, and hardly hurt at all after I bought a pair of "nursing" shoes, even though I have mild scoliosis. I still go back and buy those shoes!

update-
I asked my mil about the pain/weird throbbing sensation. (she's had 8 kids, so she's a great go to gal for this stuff) She says that she got that with a few of her pregnancies. She thinks it is the baby laying on a nerve that sends the sensation through my muscles and down that whole area. She thinks that it could be happening specifically during therapy bc my tummy is vibrating, I'm coughing, and that might get the baby to move into a weird position. In any case, I'm not going to worry about it bc she told me all sorts of WEIRD things/sensations, even pains that happened to her, and its all normal. She said that with my hubby's pregnancy she'd be walking down the sidewalk all normal, and then suddenly feel a tingle shoot through her vagina and inner thigh like electric shock and completely stumble to the ground-he moved and laid on some nerve and made her ability to walk just stop for a few seconds. Crazy.
No one tells you this stuff! You just have to wait and see how your body is during preg I guess.
As far as the chest pt issues, keep your suggestions and stories coming if you can, and I'm going to do my best and talk to the doc again soon.

I didn't do any airway clearance from about age 18 to 30. (I'm 31 now) I do the vest now, to humor my doctor, but I don't think it works nearly as well as HTS. Honestly, for me, just sitting and not talking, but breathing through my mouth with my nebs gets more mucus out than any amount of time or frequency on the vest. Does the HTS make you gag too much while you are pg? If you do find yourself unable to do the vest, I would highly suggest alternating HTS with pulmozyme and increasing the number of treatments during the day.

I had all sorts of shooting pains/nerves through the vaginal area and the back of my legs during the end of my pg. Even some muscle cramps. I was quite large, carrying twins that totalled 12#1oz in the end! (I'm sure Julie can relate! I think she was bigger than me, but we are of similar stature) I never had back/muscle pain, but I heard early on, if you keep your chin level to the ground it helps with posture during pg. I ended up with no back pain, until now, now that I lift the wiggly toddlers in strange positions. LOL! During pg I would lie in bed on my side to rest at night and I always kept a pillow under the belly because otherwise it just hung uncomfortably.

Good luck and enjoy the rest of your pg.
