CF & Poor Math Skills

I have CF and 2 Engineering degrees, about 4 years of post grad work and have been working in applied research since 1986 (all physics / math, equations, computer programs and then experiments to see if we did it right!)... aka more math than you want to hear about. It sounds like someone's fishing for an excuse to me. ~Juliet

Interesting...I have CF & 2 engineering degrees as well, and I rocked the math part of the GREs. However, I've noticed that, when I was sick in college, even just doing homework exerted too much energy and would make my fever rise, so there could be some sort-of link. Possibly. Maybe. But I don't really think so.

i find this one hard to believe; but, i sure wish i had a copy of the article to garner sympathy from my college stats professors. I use to work in the neurology department of a rehab center.....it doesn't sound plausible to me that oxygen would not be getting to one part of the brain based on a genetic disease; i suppose stranger things do happen though

I have atypical CF and I was always a math whiz (inducted into Mu Alpha Theta in 11th grade...yadda yadda) until I was deathly ill for several years and heavily medicated. So, for example, I can no longer do math in my head faster than you can punch it into your calculator. But I'm still probably better at math than most folks.

My oldest son who has atypical CF has "dyscalculia", which is kind of like dyslexia only numbers just don't compute for him.

So the vote seems to be split 50-50 in this house.
