We have 2 CF centers within 30 minutes of us and have elected to go to Stanford which is 2-3 hours depending on traffic.

I have been, and been in the hospital at three california centers, all kids.
UCSF, CHOC

I LOVED San Diego. I had great doctors, tune ups were helpful. I felt that the clinic ran very well.
UCSF was also great. I did go into a major healthy decline..but it wasn't because of them, it was all me.

CHOC is where we are currently at.
I really don't like them.
We waited 2 hours after our appointment to see the doctor. Also, (maybe I am just sensitive), I felt that certain members of the team weren't very positive. I mean, they are good doctors...but I felt some were "scaring" me into some things. But thats just me.
I recently got out of their hospital, a nice hospital.

UCSF has nice programs and play rooms. Very helpful with school work.
San Diego, I don't really remember the school part of it. I was too young.

i go to the c.f. clinic in panorama city at kaiser.
i dont know if that is an option for you but its in los angeles and is about 1 and a half hours drive from where i live in bakersfield.
its the best thing to ever happen to me.
im not going to say dont choose UCLA but i wasnt taken good enough care of there. it seemed to me that they didnt really care too much about the patients and they didnt do enough. i almost died from this.
but the doctors in panorama city are beyond amazing and are trying new things always to make their c.f. care that much better. i know they are following the guy who made the vest's care because it works so good i may be in the hospital more but its definately for my own good.
they care there a lot.
ive had all c.f. specialists there pediatrics: dr. leiberthal and dr. allison.
and now adults: dr. hananel.
they take things that are wrong with you and basically go full force to try to get you better.
i cant say enough about these doctors.
life savers.
