Charting question.

My work schedule is random so I don't get up at the same time everyday. Some days I have to wake up @ 4:00 am (uhg!). I know your'e supposed to take your BBT at the same time everyday but I can't. So is it going to throw my charting off really bad? Should I just use an OPK instead?

can you set your alarm to take your temp every morning at the earliet time you would have to get up?

I didn't take my temps at exactly the same time every day ( I did Mon-Fri, but weekends I didn't) and it didn't really seem to throw me off - I still had a visible dip and rise at ovulation and I still sustained higher temps when I was pregnant.

I think temping is better than just OPKs as it also gives you an idea of your luteal phase and average post O temps (if they stay elevated it can be a sign of pregnancy).

Don't froget to check your cervical mucous too if you really want a good picture of your fertility!

If you've been asleep for 6 hours or 8 hours or 10 hours...., what's the difference??? I understood the point of the temp was to take it before you rolled over, got out of bed, before you said "good morning" anything. Before all movement. That should be sufficient. That's what I did. I had a steady job M-F so my temp was around the same time on those days, but I never set the alarm on the weekends. My charts didn't suffer for it.

I thought about setting my alarm for a time to take my temp every morning, but I have mild insomnia and I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get back to sleep if I did that. To me having enough sleep is more important than some inconsistancy in my temp. I will finish out the month and see if I get a spike in temp. If I do, I won't worry about it!
