Hi Tonya, Please don't ever feel that you are making a big deal of anything that concerns you little guys health..I'm an adult c/f patient and sometimes i feel that way, but i have been told that that is what they (the team) are there for..I don't know what a mucus plug feels like, but that could be a possibilty.. if i have a persistant pain in one area, it usually turns out (for me anyway) to be pneumonia...In any case, i would not wait untill the 22nd for him to see a dr. I would call tomorrow and make an appt. for him to be seen..or at the very least discuss the situation with the dr.. I hope all goes well .. please let us know .. PM me if you want...God Bless <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0"> joni

I'm not sure what it would be either. I had that happened before. I have had that pain when I had an infection. I've had it for no obvious reason. Last time I had it, I figured it was a mucus plug, even though I've never had one before. Remember, it never hurts to ask if something, especially if it is concerning you. I agree with Joni, dont wait until the 22nd. I would put a call into the doctor and ask about it or make an earlier appt. Especially since he already has an active infection. Good luck. Keep us up to date. I hope he gets feeling better.

My nephew (10w/cf) had sharp chest pains too recently. It was caused by aspergillus lung infection. I would take him to make sure. It could be a mucus plug, who knows??
Sharon, mom of Sophia, 6 and Jack, 4 both with cf

Wow, thanks guys.

Ever since Andrew told me about this last night it has been on my mind so seeing so many great responses this morning is very helpful. This morning he did not seem to have any problems with deep breaths. Last night he was mentioning it quite a bit. So, I think tonight I'll watch him closely after school and, like Mel said, try some manual CPT in that area instead of putting his vest on him. If the problem persists I'll call clinic tomorrow. Andrew said this has been going on for awhile now and he just hasn't told me about it. And the thought of pneumonia, or Sharon's post about her nephew's aspergillus, (which Andrew is growing), tell me I should call the doctor by tomorrow am if this pain continues.

I really don't mean to sound like a basketcase mom..I'm not. I'm just trying to keep up with the changes I've been seeing in Andrew for the past few months. It's kind of like Andrew's CF has always been mostly digestive and suddenly the respiratory part of it is starting to "wake up".
Thanks again for all of your input...It's priceless!
