Chest vest or Full Vest

A Hill-Rom rep came out to my house today because I am trying out the Model 104 vest. (I have the Model 103). Sshe had me put on my vest, and told me that it was way too big on me. That's strange because I wear a Medium in clothes and this vest is an Adult Small. Anyway, she suggested trying the chest vest instead of a smaller full vest because I complained about the full one riding up and hurting my underarms.

I was wondering what everyone else has used and if they have a preference or feel that one works better over the other.

I prefer to exercise and leave the vest behind. I do have the full vest and never tried the chest vest so I don't know which one I would prefer. I think the full vest is good for what it does. Its just uncomfortable and time consuming, I really do prefer to put the time into exercise instead.

I exercise too. At least 30 minutes everyday. But I feel like I am even more productive when I exercise right after my vest.

I have the full Vest. I've never tried the chest vest so i can't really compare them, but I do have the problem with my vest where it rides up and hurts my underarms. My hair gets stuck in the velcro a lot too.

I prefer the custom-tailored Vest that comes with my Respirtech machine. It fits me much better than the generic HillRom S, M, L

Take note as well, that although the 103 is bigger than the 104, the wave forms are superior with the 103 vs. the 104.

So by getting the 104, you are down-grading your CPT quality.

If you want to read more, from the man who invented the Vest, go to my blog. Scrolll down the "categories" and click "Warwick's letter"

Hi Amy,

I am already familiar with Dr. Warwick's notes on this. However, studies correspond to a group of individuals and sometimes people fall outside the norm.

For instance, Dr. Warwick posts that we should do frequencies 6, 7, 8, 18, 19, 20 at descending pressures. I tried his method for a month and have found that for me, I do best at pressure 9, frequencies 10, 12, and 17.

Furthermore, I have tried out his Incourage System and I hated it. I did not get up as much sputum (contrary to his 22% more studies) and found that it made me feel sore from the inside out. The tubes are extremely bulky and the noise is deafening. I prefered my Model 103 by a long shot.

I am trying the Model 104 and I will judge if I find the 103 to be more effective. So far, I find them to be similar as far as sputum clearance.
