Child Watch

I have been going back and forth deciding weather to put Graycie in our YMCA childwatch. I stay home with the kids and don't get out very much and feeling really bad about myself. I am having health issues with extra weight and need to shed this extra "baggage". The only time i have to go is during the day most days and 1 day in the evening. I talked to the director at the ymca and they want me to sign a paper saying they aren't liable if grayson gets sick. That scares me! Also, one of the days my other children will be with her in childwatch to watch over her. My nites are so booked when my hubby gets home. I am running out the door when he is coming in. Most nites we try to keep grayson home cuz it's easier to not grag her along when there's nothing for her to do. I just need some advise. We don't have extra money to pay a sitter since we have 1 income. We have a huge discount on the ymca membership and i would love to use this for myself. My oldest dd's use alot of the programs and i would like to also. UGH!

My advise is to give it a try. make sure to purell her hands right away afterwards. I was in a similar situaiton when my dd was Grayson's age. I tried out the child watch and it worked through the summer just fine, as we entered into flu season I had to call it quits because there were just too many kids with runny noses hanging around and I became too paranoid.

I think its kind of funny that they want you to sign a liability form....what are you going to do SUE them if she gets a cold?? <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

Eventually, you will needed to find a balance between protecting her and letting her live her life. It definitely gets easier as they get a little older. My daughter is now in the YMCA preschool and she is doing great.

If you are ready for this, why not give it a try and see how it goes.

Just curious - Is this a form they want everyone to sign or are they singling out your daughter because she has CF? I have never had to sign a form like that and didn't know if that's something places are now doing.

how is grayson's current health? It's a personal comfort thing, but If she is fairly healthy I see no reason not to use the Y's childcare while you work out. I did w/ my CF child and very glad I did.

Also, could your husband not watch her in the evening for you to go up and work out, esp if u r already up there w/ your daughter's programs.

Yes you children's health is the priority, but you also need to take time for yourself, cause if you r sick, this is doing no good for either of you, both in terms of being too sick to take care of them and then risking them getting sick from you.
