CHUCK E CHEESE

We have been there 3 times and every time I am on pins and needles. BUT we believe in letting him be a kid. We think he needs to live life to the fullest and do whatever he would like to do within reason. He is going to play soccer this year, which he has all the go get it about him, but I worry he won't beable to keep up physically. But we will wait and see. At least he is trying and we can't say he didn't.

I had always been against it (and I'm still against the McD's playland), but after one opened in our neighborhood, I finally gave in. The happiness on his face was all I needed to know that I did the right thing. I took my sanitizer and gave him a bath right after, but, those are the memories I want him to have. He talked and talked about it for weeks afterwards. Now, I wouldn't take him there during the cold/flu season, but I see no problem with letting them be kids...remember how fun it was when you were a kid? There are also no ball pits there either. In fact, I don't remember seeing ball pits for a long time. I actually felt bad that he is almost four years old and I can actually say I've never seen him as happy and having as much fun as I did at Chuck E.'s. He is now demanding to have his birthday party there.

My son is 2.5. He hasn't gone to Chuck E Cheese, but we did go to a b-day party at a similar type of place last year. He had a great time, but ended up with roseola. I too wiped him down and cleaned hands, but obviously it just wasn't enough. I've since decided I would wait to take him to places like that when he's a little older and is actually asking to go. Now we go to outdoor parks where he has just as much fun, and we haven't picked up anything there as of yet. The indoor play lands just don't seem to be sanitized and are a haven for germs. At least outdoor areas get a good washing when it rains.

On a side note -- how 'bout those disgusting CAR carts they have at the grocery store. Last weekend, I went to the older grocery store instead of the one we usually go to and DS insisted on riding in one of those. And wouldn't you know the sani-wipes they usually have by the carts was empty. Not that it would've helped -- with the visibile dirt/grime all over those things I doubt a gallon of bleach and my power washer would've taken care of it. Bleah!

So I chose the least filthy of the cars and then scrubbed his hands down with antibacterial gel when we got out of there.
