Avent bottle sterilizer- LOVE it! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> (Wash the parts in hot soapy water first.)

eta: I also put Emily's spacer (Aerochamber) and the pieces of the sinus rinse bottle that we use in this and it cleans all of this stuff really well.

Harriett,

Your posts were among the posts that convinced me to try it. I LOVE it too. I didn't know you could put the Aerochamber in (I melted one in the microwave sterilizer) or the sinus rinse bottle. This is great news.

I have melted so many things in the microwave sterilizer because I didn't know how long to heat it. I also melted the Flutter in it. I wonder if I could put that in there as well. I switched to the Acapella because it's boilable, but I prefer the Flutter.

THANK YOU!

Our nurse showed us an Aerochamber valve after it had been boiled... it was all warped! So this is one reason I like the steam one. I think the timed aspect is one reason it works as well as the fact that it doesn't come into direct contact with a hot pot as it could when boiled (which could be a much higher temp than 212*) ...this may be an issue with the microwave too- as commonly mentioned with microwave cooking directions, there tend to be 'hot spots' when you use one so who knows how hot it actually gets in there. I think the electronic steamer is a more 'controlled' way to do it.

Oh, and I also throw Emily's toothbrush in there too sometimes.

eta> I tried the sinus bottle parts first before the Aerochamber; once I saw they came through OK without melting I tried the Aerochamber. I figured if the sinus bottle was ruined at least that was cheap to replace!
