I agree with everyone. Look into allergies & acid since they both can aggrivate the lungs.

I also want to note that IMHO for a doctor to say that a CFer wont have to go into the hospital if completely compliant is irresponsible. To say HOPEFULLY is one think, but if it was said in a FACTUAL manner than that was just wrong!

It can make one feel like they have done something wrong when so many factors contribute to a persons health including plain old luck......

My daughter is seven. She had her first IV's in Aug of 07 in hopes of getting her pft's up. It worked and they have stayed in the 100's. This winter though she kept waking up at night coughing and also would cough some during the day. So her dr kept putting her on 3 weeks of oral antibiotics. It would help but a month later she needed to be back on orals. Finally, in April I said how many times does she need to be on oral antibiotics to kick her cough? So she went in for IV's again. Her dr explained that sometimes small virses just irriate the lungs and inflammation occurs. It takes strong antibiotics to do the trick.

I asked her dr about allergies and he dismissed it as an issue. I agree that it should be looked into. What could it hurt. However, I just got allergy testing last month and if my daughter has to go through the 40 shots that I got in my arm, it would never happen. So, we will see. My daughter had a nissan fundoplication two years ago to help with her reflux. We think reflux was causing her low pfts.

There is allergy testing done that does not hurt (only itches <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0"> ). I just had it done last Friday. They do it on your back and you can barely feel it, and I hate needles. Talk to the allergist about what kind they offer.

thanks. She had the allergy test long ago. Shes allergic to dogs and ragweed. Since march we have had a lot of rainy days and cool days, maybe the weather constant changing has an affect on her. Also, since she was young they have her take an all year everyday dose of allergy med, which is a little orange pill. She also takes reflux meds. Thanks
