Clinical Trials...

They have posters up in all the exam rooms at our clinics with information about the trials that they are participating in and in a newsletter that recently came in the mail they gave updates on how some of them were going.

We're pretty new to this and Emily's not on any daily medication other than Albuteral & Creon10; they haven't asked us about participating in anything. If we were asked and/or if I saw anything that would be applicable to her I would be open to giving it a try. These trials are such a vital part of the process in getting new treatment options available to everyone.

Our clinic constantly asks us and I keep up with what is going on. My son has been in 4 clinical trials (Denufosol, Aztreonam, and 2 others I can not think of right now off the top of my head). He would have been in the Bronchitol (manitol) study, but his lung function is too high. I usually do not allow him to do any of the early stage testing. I usually wait until at least Phase II testing to get some good data on side effects. He is 9 yrs old. When he gets older, I will let him decide if he wants to do earlier stage trials. I wish more would get involved.

My clinic in Denver (National Jewish) was great about contacting me with trials. But I also keep an eye on cff.org for upcoming/current trials and when I moved to Chicago I tracked down the clinic that was doing Denufosol trials. I love doing studies and encourage everyone to do them. It's the only way we can get new drugs to the rest of our population!
