sorry, not meaning to freak you out.

My fingers have always been clubbed. It's a little annoying; most of my friends have these cute little petite fingers...but oh well...at least my nails are always rounded and look pretty. Besides, most people don't even notice the clubbing unless I point it out to them.

I was in the hospital once with pneumonia and had a pulmonologist who was not very knowledgeable about CF. He did a good job of making me feel like a freak on an examination table by calling a bunch of nurses into the room to point out to them that "this is a good example of clubbing" and proceed to give them a mini educational seminar about clubbing. my fingers aren't badly clubbed, only slightly so. but he succeeded in making me self conscious about my fingers ever since.

The hospital I go to is a teaching hospital, since ive been admitted there every time I get a herd of students come in my room to check out my fat fingernails lol, the docs do ask my permission before letting the students see me and I always say its alright, if me feeling self concious for a while helps the students to be able to recognise people with cf easier then its worth it
