Don't have cf, but am a coffee drinker for 4 decades now! AND work nights in a hospital--soo love the coffee--if you cut me I probably bleed caffine!

Very Cute, Terri!
Yes, I do recall hearing that the main reason the wife didn't want me to drink coffee was because it being a diuretic, the dehydration would set in, and be the cause of the bleeding. However, I have been working hard at keeping up on my hydration levels, even in this extremely hot and humid weather. Though I'm sure I was on the high side of hydration before the bleeding incident, I know the bleed didn't have to do with the coffee because: (a) I wasn't drinking coffee anywhere above my usual amount, on the contrary, maybe less. (b) The place we went to that day (R/C Drifting) was air-conditioned. (c) I was still drinking gallons of water that day.
Though I've lost weight throughout this heatwave, I've been able to go down closer to my weight before my divorce. I was at an average of 73kg, which was too thin for me, and then I shot up to nearly 80kg with a shmorgasbord of foods I wasn't able to eat for years! Finally, after trying to moderate my weight down to an average of 75kg, it took a while cause of Yuka's cooking *Yummy! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0"> *.
I'm sure the weight loss has a lot to do with calories, fats, and detoxins going out with the water and minerals, but since I'm putting a lot of those nutrients back in, the hope to keep enough water in me to avoid dehydration would stop the worry of taking coffee out of my diet.

I dont drink coffee regularly because I dont get up early enough for it or I'm too lazy to make it. I prefer ice cold, sweet tea. Yes I'm really dehydrated, always have been. But the reason I responded is because I do notice when I drink coffee that my secretions seem to come out easier. That's one of the reason I will drink a cup, specially if I feel a little extra heaviness in my chest. I figured it was from the fact the coffee is hot (I usually hold the cup close to my face and inhale the steam), I never thought about it having something in it to open airways, it makes sense. I drink my coffee with milk/cream, sugar, and sometimes french vanilla flavoring. I've been drinking coffee on and off since I was 10 or younger. I will drink hot tea with honey and lemon when my throat is hurting or I have to sing somewhere.

I drink coffee everyday. I have for years (since I was a teenager). I have about 3 cups a day with cream and sugar. I haven't noticed any ill-effects from drinking it.

A side note, I worked with a woman many years ago that had a son that had asthma. I don't remember how old he was, maybe 10 or so. She would let him drink coffee sometimes. I think I remarked about letting him drink it at such a young age. I remember her telling me that his dr. said it was good for him because he was asthmatic.
